Tournament Terms and Conditions
The terms you accept when a player takes part — selection, offers, participation, uniforms and who you are contracting with.
Who you are contracting with
The Victorian Elite Cricket League is the competition. Payments are currently processed through Elite Cricket Academy and Sports Gear Pty Ltd, which is the name shown on the payment page and on your receipt.
A separate company and payment account for the league are being set up. When that happens these terms will be re-issued with a new version and effective date rather than quietly edited, because people will have agreed to this wording.
Selection and offers
Selection involves screening registrations and identifying players on the coaches’ recommendations. Selected players are invited to try out for a team, and the decision to accept an offer rests with the player and their parents.
Selection decisions are final and not open to negotiation. The league, the franchises and the coaches make those decisions, and we are not able to accept requests for a review.
Where an offer is made, players and parents should read its terms carefully and satisfy themselves that they are available for matches and able to travel and arrive on time. Offers are made on team requirements and balance. A player accepting a place prevents another player from receiving it.
Taking part
Matches are played on turf wickets in Melbourne during summer, and on synthetic wickets during winter, as scheduled by the league and subject to weather.
Players who arrive late or do not attend are not given replacement matches or refunds. At the league’s discretion, and subject to availability, an alternative game may be offered.
Who can play
Where a player lives does not decide eligibility. The competition is open to players from anywhere in Australia and to players travelling from overseas, provided they meet the criteria for the age group they register in and can provide proof of age. Proof of age is checked at enrolment and is not kept on file.
Players entering the draft are expected to be affiliated with, and playing, registered and structured club or school cricket.
Existing players
A player who has played a previous VECL season does not go through team selection again for the December 2026 tournament. That exemption applies to this competition only. Selection for the international pathway is a separate process that every player goes through.
Uniforms
Uniforms — playing shirt, trousers and cap — are provided by the franchise and paid for by the player. All players must comply with the league’s uniform requirements. A player not in the correct uniform may not take part in training, matches or other league events.
What the league provides
Sessions are run by coaches appointed by the league, covering try-outs and team training. Each team has a manager to coordinate match day, and matches have appointed umpires, scorers and match-day managers.
Continued participation
Franchises may retain selected players on their performance and offer places in future competitions. Players are responsible for any match, try-out and enrolment fees that apply.
Changes
The league may amend these terms. Where a change affects something already paid for, it is re-issued with a new version and effective date.
