What we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to reach us about it.
Who this applies to
This policy covers the Victorian Elite Cricket League website at vecl.au, and the information we collect through it.
Registration and payment happen in a separate system. The website explains the league and hands you over to our booking application, which is where player records, consents and payments are held. That system collects more than this website does, and it tells you what it collects at the point it asks.
Your information belongs to you
We work out what we actually need to run the league and try to collect only that. Where we can, we delete or anonymise information once it is no longer needed.
When you enter sensitive information such as card numbers, it is encrypted in transit. Card details are passed to the payment provider to be processed. We never store complete card details.
We protect your information from others
If someone asks us for your personal information, we refuse unless you have given permission or we are legally required to provide it. Where we are legally required to share it, we will tell you in advance unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.
What we collect
When you visit this website, we automatically collect information about your device: browser, IP address, time zone, and cookies set on your device. As you browse we collect which pages you looked at, what referred you here, and how you used the site.
When you make an enquiry, we collect what you type into the form — the player’s name and date of birth, contact details, the club and grade they play, and what you are asking about. That reaches our booking application as an enquiry record so a person can answer it.
When you register or pay, that happens in the booking application rather than here, and is covered by the notice given there.
How we use it
To answer enquiries, to run registrations and competitions, to communicate with you about cricket you have registered for, and to detect fraud or misuse.
Marketing is separate and optional. Where a form offers to send you news, it is an unticked box, and not ticking it does not affect your enquiry.
Who we share it with
We may share personal information with service providers who help us run the league, and with government authorities, banks and regulators where we are required to by law — for example in response to a subpoena, a search warrant or another lawful request, or to protect our rights.

Payments are processed by Elite Cricket Academy and Sports Gear Pty Ltd, which is the name shown on the payment page and on your receipt. A separate company and payment account for the league are being set up; when that happens the affected policies are re-issued with a new version and effective date.
