About
The league
Turf T20 cricket in Melbourne, founded in 2024, sitting underneath an international pathway run with the Karnataka Institute of Cricket.
What the VECL is
The Victorian Elite Cricket League is a turf T20 competition in Melbourne, founded in 2024 and run by Elite Cricket Group. Three franchises — the Western Falcons, Eastern Panthers and Northern Warriors — field sides in a December tournament and again from March, with JT20 and junior competitions running through the season.
Matches are played on turf, with appointed officials, scoring and statistics. That last part matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between a performance that exists as a record and one that exists only in somebody’s memory.
Above the league sits the Victorian Elite – KIOC High Performance International Pathway, run with the Karnataka Institute of Cricket in Bengaluru. Players train there for eight days each December and April, and come home to play the December tournament.
None of that is a first attempt. Elite has run inbound and outbound programmes in both directions before — players coming to Australia to train and play, and Australian players going the other way — alongside several high performance programmes and more than ten thousand hours of one-to-one coaching since the Hoppers Crossing centre was built in 2020.

Who runs it
One organisation, four arms.
A league is only as good as the machinery behind it. Elite Cricket Group owns the coaching, the competition and the registration platform, so nothing essential is outsourced.

Two countries
One league, two countries, two owners
VECL also runs in Chennai, through a separate Indian entity under its own ownership. The two sites are built to look like one league because that is how a player experiences it — but this site speaks only for the Australian league, and does not own or operate the Indian one.
