Coach and Official Code of Conduct
What coaches, umpires and match officials commit to.
As a coach or official
- I will place the safety and welfare of players above all else.
- I will show concern and caution towards sick and injured players.
- I will give every player a fair go, whatever their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. I will be impartial, consistent, objective and courteous in making decisions.
- I will accept responsibility for my actions and my decisions.
- I will condemn unsporting behaviour and promote respect for players as individuals. I will avoid situations that may be, or may look like, a conflict of interest.
- I will be a positive role model in behaviour and appearance, and keep my comments positive and supportive.
- I will be a good sport, because actions speak louder than words. I will respect and support other officials.
- I will keep up to date with the Laws of Cricket and the league’s rules, and with how they are applied.
- I will emphasise the Spirit of the Game rather than the errors.
- I will not abuse players, parents or other officials in any way.
- I will respect the rights, dignity and worth of everyone involved in the game.
Umpires and scorers
Umpires uphold the Laws of Cricket 2017 and the league’s tournament rules fairly and impartially. Umpires appointed by the league are registered, and accredited umpires are registered through Cricket Australia’s umpire accreditation scheme.
The committee appoints umpires and may make changes where necessary. Where an umpire is unavailable, a league staff member neutral to both sides is appointed as square leg umpire and the accredited umpire controls the match.
Official umpires and scorers adjudicate with complete impartiality. Teams have no say in who is appointed, and appointments change only at the tournament organisers’ discretion.
If this code is breached
A coach, umpire or team staff member found to have breached this code may receive a warning, a suspension, or expulsion from the tournament and from league activities, at the discretion of the league’s management committee.
Working with children
Coaches and officials working with children are also subject to the league’s child safety requirements. That policy is in preparation and is not yet in force — it is listed on the policies page with what it will cover.

Payments are processed by Elite Cricket Academy and Sports Gear Pty Ltd, which is the name shown on the payment page and on your receipt. A separate company and payment account for the league are being set up; when that happens the affected policies are re-issued with a new version and effective date.
